Old Field
Community Overview
The incorporated village of Old Field is a lovely place where wooded hills are green with laurels all year, and trees are in abundance everywhere. The area is nestled between Setauket and Stony Brook on the extreme north shore of Long Island.

A former millionaire's playground, only about 800 residents live in Old Field. Two acre zoning helps to maintain the village's rural and private feel. Most homes are set back well out of sight from the roads. Old Field is a purely residential community with no stores or businesses, and is patrolled by its own security force.

Homes in old Field include lovely victorians with wrap around porches, and classic colonials dating from the 1840's. As you pass the area's wetlands and nature preserves, the village comes to an end at Old Field Point where the historic landmark lighthouse is located. This scenic setting offers unsurpassed sunset views of the Long Island Sound.
